We are very proud to announce that the 2013 Vondeling Cabernet Sauvignon has won gold at the 2016 Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show. Out of 1067 entries, only 35 wines were awarded gold medals from which the final 21 trophy winning wines were selected. The Vondeling Cabernet was one of only two Cabernet Sauvignons to wine gold, and or trophy medals.
The Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show is in its 15th year and is convened by leading South African wine authority, Michael Fridjhon.
This year’s tasting panel included Michel Bettane, France’s leading wine authority, writer and critic, Eric Goettelmann, sommelier for the multi Michelin starred restaurant group Bernard Loiseau and Simon Tam, head of Wine for Christie’s, China, as well as six well known South African wine judges.
