The 3rd annual China Wine Awards took place earlier this year and Vondeling is proud to announce the the 2011 Baldrick Shiraz was awarded a gold medal.

Around 100 judges from the within the Chinese trade and drinks business judged over 1000 entries from 35 different countries. New world wines dominated the awards with Australian wines picking up the majority of the gold medals. Portugal managed the second highest number of golds with 45, follwed by South Africa and Italy with 37 each.

The China Wine Awarrds are the only awards in the world judged specifically for the China market and is entirely focused on consumer preferences and demand. In addition, the CWA are unique in that they are open for entry by both producers and distributers looking to enter and succeed in China.

The judges are all major purchasing decision makers in the growing Chinese market. They are key Chinese wine importers, distributors, wholesalers, restaurant group owners, sommeliers based in China. The CWA Judges understand the often under estimated demands of wine consumers in major cities and also more remote and highly lucrative provinces across China.
