Greetings Vondelingers
It is with relief that we finally found ourselves at the end of the 2021 harvest. One of the longest on record due to a cooler than average summer and then some heavy rainfall the 2nd week in March. We finally picked our last block of premium Cabernet Sauvignon on April 1st….no kidding!
In fact, Matt had an extra busy end of pressing season and had to double his workload and look after Emile’s cellar as well. Emile had other pressing business to attend to. Below is Emile with his beautiful wife Hilani and twins Fanie and Mari. Once back at work, Emile was very upbeat about the blending of some Sauvignon Blanc and some Semillon from our new block – pictured below on the right.
We are very excited to announce the release next month of a new product to the Vondeling range called “Little Sparke”, made from 100 % Chardonnay.
The tasting room has also been busy. This weekend saw our celebrated “Stoep Session” with chef David Mac Donald and it was a sell out with fantastic dishes. A real treat!
